Story
Ok so here goes! I wanted to give myself a healthy challenge this year to do something worthwhile and meaningful. What better way than to raise money for a worthy cause and one that so many people are affected by.
I am doing this hiking challenge not only for my own goals but in memory of two dearly loved grandparents of mine who died of cancer. My grandad, James Alan Wandless, died at the age of 66 with cancer of the kidneys which quickly spread to his liver and spine. I will always have the most fondest memories of my grandad. Even though I was fairly young when he died, some of my earliest memories were when I would be with him before he had cancer. My grandma, Jean Sheena Steele, died of breast cancer at the age of 69 when I was young. I miss them both and wish that they would have been able to have seen the person I have become today.
Cancer affects us all in one way or another - whether you have survived it yourself, are battling with it now or know someone you have loved and cared for go through it.1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and unfortuately a quarter of the deaths in the UK are from cancer related illnesses. That is an overwhelmingly amount.
Macmillan is a group that I know supports people affected by the tragedy of cancer in a massive way. If you would like to support this cause then please donate. Even if is a small amount, it will make a huge difference to those people's lives. Thank you!
