Story
I have been moved by my friend's family having first hand experience of the terrible effects of cancer. As a result of this on the 21st of september I will be walking the 11 miles between sandbanks and hengistbury head. This is not only to raise awareness of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) but also to remember a brave little man. At 5 months Ryan was diagnosed with AML and was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital. This disease is rare and only 50 children are diagnosed with it every year. By 12 months old Ryan had undergone chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant and experimental treatment. Sadly last month Ryan's options ran out and he was admitted to Naomi House for his final days with his family. Ryan has now earnt his wings and this walk will be in his memory. All money raised will go to clic sargent to provide crucial support to families with children and young people, at home and in hospital, suffering with various forms of cancer.
