The DLP Dynamos are a team of four - Neil, Tim, Angela and Katrina and we are taking part in the Extramile 2009 Loire Challenge to raise money for two charities, the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust and WorkAid.

The three day cycle relay will cover just over 500 miles and we will cycle from Rouen through the Alps Mancelle to Le Mans, then onto Amboise and around the Loire Valley which is going to prove rather challenging but we are in training!

The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust is one of the charities that we are raising money for and funds scientific and clinical research into childhood and adult brain tumours, and offers support and information to patients and their carers. The Charity has become the largest brain tumour support charity and dedicated funder of brain tumour research in the United Kingdom.

Katrina's daughter Georgina was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour a year ago and has undergone brain surgery twice, radiotherapy and is about to undergo a course of chemotherapy to try and stop further growth of the tumour.  We are hoping that the chemotherapy will stem the growth of the tumour and allow her to resume her music studies at Manchester University, albeit with severe sight impairements as a result of the tumour.

Research into brain tumours is vastly underfunded but these tumours are becoming more common so your support of this very worthwhile charity would be much appreciated.

Workaid is the other charity that the team are supporting and tackles poverty in developing countries by supplying disadvantaged people with tools the need to earn a liviing.

We hope that you feel able to support us in our endeavours and thankyou in anticipation of your support.
