<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000;">Thank you for visiting Katrina Jacks&rsquo; fundraising page</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000;">&nbsp;<span style="font-size: small;">It is now a year since Katrina died, and we feel her loss as keenly as ever.</span><span style="font-size: small;">The generous donations you have made have already helped an Ecuadorean orphanage, were Katrina worked last year, to be rebuilt and equipped with one room named &lsquo;Sala Katrina&rsquo;.</span> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">The money donated for the World Land Trust is to be used to build an Interpretation and Visitor Centre at Yanacocha National Nature Reserve outside Quito, Ecuador. This reserve is being extended and reafforested, and is visited by many local and international travellers. The centre will spread the message about restoration of the area around the reserve and the need to conserve whole habitats. Building is due to start later this year </span></p> <font face="Times New Roman" color="#000000"> <p>&nbsp;</p> </font></span> <p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000;">Katrina&nbsp;had been&nbsp;working and travelling in South America before starting&nbsp;her career&nbsp;as a Chemical Engineer in July 2010. She died on 16th May&nbsp;2010<sup>&nbsp;</sup>. She had spent her last six weeks trekking in the mountains and jungle of Ecuador and Peru. She was amazed at the birds, flowers, wildlife and culture she encountered.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&nbsp;The Ninez Y Vida school&nbsp; in Ecuador where she volunteered has been sponsored separately.</span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&nbsp;</span></span>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">The World Land Trust raises funds for urgent land purchase and protection of critically threatened habitats in South America which would otherwise have been lost. World Land Trust works with its overseas project partners, who ultimately own the land, to create permanent nature reserves protected for their biodiversity.&nbsp; </span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&nbsp;</span></span>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Their patron is Sir David Attenborough.
