Pedal it Pink - River Lee Country Park · 28 March 2010

Women are still getting breast cancer and dying from it. That’s why Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer have joined forces to become the UK’s largest dedicated breast cancer research charity. And with your help, together we can put an end to breast cancer, once and for all.

Story

Local cyclist Katryna Knight from Elstow in Bedford will gear up to beat breast cancer this March by taking part in Breast Cancer Campaign’s women-only cycling event, Pedal it Pink.

I need YOUR help!

I will join hundreds of women at River Lee Country Park on Sunday 28 March to support my former boss and ex-work colleague who have been diagnosed with cancer.

“Last year I completed the full marathon at Pedal it Pink in Liverpool to show my support for an ex boss who had been diagnosed with breast cancer the year before. This was the most exhausting challenge I have ever taken on with months of training hard in freezing conditions and no real understanding of the time it was going to take. I was so proud of my efforts and felt amazing whilst cycling intensely for two and half hours, knowing that I had helped raise money for charity.”

“This year I am even more determined after hearing about my ex-work colleague and close friend who was diagnosed with cancer shortly after having her first baby last year.  She never returned from maternity leave and is currently going through chemotherapy. As well as being a total shock, I feel disheartened for her partner’s and son’s situation and I’m hoping that by continually supporting charities that fund vital research, there will come a time when I won’t be frightened of losing a friend.”

I will be taking on the full marathon challenge in the park, which is situated on the Herts/Essex border, and hope to raise £500. If you would like to help me reach my fundraising target, please donate what you can now!
