Story

On the 18th July, Northamptonshire County Archery Society are holding an endurance shoot in memory of Chris Mason . Kayleigh & Kieran are both shooting along with Derek - while the complete event is for 18 hours this will be an emotional day for us so we can't guarantee that we will manage the full 18 hours of shooting but will do our best to shoot and support others there.

Chris was part of our family, he was our Grandma's partner and always made sure that not only she was happy but that we were too. He went above and beyond the role of Step Grandparent and he leaves a big hole in the family and although we keep him safe in our hearts we miss him.

Chris was also integral part of county archery; he was always there to support everyone no matter their level of experience.

Chris was the driving force behind Kayleigh changing to shooting Compound after years of shooting Barebow - with Chris's encouragement and coaching (along with others helping) Kayleigh was invited to shoot in the Junior County Team whilst in her first year of transition to the compound bow.

Kieran has tried several types of bow - Barebow. Longbow and now Recurve, again Chris encouraged him to try and helped him to fulfill his potential with each change of bow.

Chris had a knack for making people feel relaxed - Kayleigh found that having time with Chris during a shoot that wasn't going well always put her back on an even keel, his calm approach and relaxed manner was contagious and spending time with him always meant you came away with renewed energy.  Kieran found his coaching methods helpful - encouraging and always helping him reach his full potential with which ever bow he was trying.

This story only just starts to touch the surface of the man that Chris was - if you are able to, please donate to a charity that will help others with their fight against such a cruel disease, a fight which sadly Chris lost.

Thank you - Kayleigh & Kieran
