We 're working to bring treatments for Rett Syndrome home

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

In my picture you will see Dundee's youngest and cutest fan, his name is Blake McMillan. I met Blake in August this year and have been truly moved and inspired by both him and his family. Blake suffers from a condition called mecp2 which is a rare degenerative condition, occurring almost exclusively in males.

MeCP2 Duplication Syndrome is a condition that is characterized by moderate to severe intellectual disability, severe, uncontrolled epilepsy, and recurrent respiratory tract infections which respond poorly to treatment, and are the major cause of death in sufferers of this cruel condition. Most people with this condition also have weak muscle tone (hypotonia) in infancy, feeding difficulties, poor or absent speech, or muscle stiffness (spasticity). Individuals with the condition may also have delayed development of motor skills such as sitting and walking. Approximately one third of people with this condition cannot walk without assistance. Almost half of these children die by age 25. There are only 25 people in the UK diagnosed with this condition.

By donating to this cause you can help fund research needed to hopefully allow Blake, and others like him to live a long and healthy life. 100% of all funds raised will go into research for the treatment and hopefully ,one day, the cure of this cruel condition.

So to help raise some support and money I will be running the womans 10k on the 12th may in Glasgow! So please, please dig deep! Kaymac xxx
