Story

Hi all,

At the end of October, I will be attempting to climb all 5,895m of Mt Kilimanjaro over an eight day trek.  I am almost ready to go- lots of kit, strange energy bars and thermal underwear; I've even been to the gym (twice).

As well as the personal challenge, I'm hoping to use this opportunity to draw attention to the 6 million people in the UK who are currently unpaid, full-time carers for a loved one, who for a variety of reasons cannot look after themselves.  Some of these carers are as young as 5 years old, and they all share the selflessness to put the needs of their family before their own.  Yet they face a life of isolation, ill-health and poverty.  The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was founded to give carers the advice and support that they need- through a network of Carers' centres and websites which deliver 24/7 support to over 400,000 carers and 25,000 young carers.

If you would like to learn more about the Trust, and how even a small donation will make a difference, visit their website: http://www.carers.org/

The Trust is entirely dependent on donations so any gifts will be hugely appreciated.

Wish me luck!
