Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the next chapter in our fundraising in memory of Sue.
All my love, Always x
The above is what I would write in Christmas, birthday, Valentines cards and the like for my wife Sue. It referenced “our” song of the same name. It still holds true in many ways.
On the 16th October 2017 my world fell apart when I lost Sue to Breast cancer. It changed everything. A wife was lost. A daughter was lost. A (then) 10 year old girl lost her Mum. It was and remains the hardest thing I have ever experienced or endured and continues to be a challenging journey.
From the moment Sue set foot in Velindre (and even before) and to the present day, Velindre have been a source of comfort, care and love. They deal with people tackling the hardest of times. They are there during the darkest moments and act with dignity and compassion until the very end.... and beyond.
Millie and I have benefited from that care, as Sue did before she passed away and we continue to be and feel part of the Velindre family.
We have committed to remembering Sue and the remarkable person she was and one way of doing this has been through fundraising for Velindre.
Why Velindre? Put simply it’s a remarkable place full of amazing people.
Without doubt the services they provide are vital to families like mine and I want to ensure they can continue to provide these services for those who need them in their time of need.
Over the next 18 months we plan a number of new fundraising events. On the back of the first #keepstanding Ball, fun runs, a Trek of Nepal and the (hopefully) upcoming trek of China’s Great Wall we look forward to the second #keepstanding Ball, band and quiz nights, culminating in Kilimanjaro 2021.
