Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This September I am taking part in The Great North Run on behalf of the North of England's Children's Cancer Research Fund.  As those of you who know me you will be aware that I'm no distance runner, so not only will this be massive challenge for me to complete but it is for a fantastic cause.

NECCR was formed in 1979 by a small group of parents whose lives had been changed forever by childhood cancer. Some parents had lost children, while others were grateful that their children had overcome the disease.  The aims of the NECCR are to raise money for continuing vital research into the causes and treatment of cancer in childhood. The main objectives of the research carried out in Newcastle are:

  • To increase the number of children cured of cancer
  • To make treatment less distressing
  • To find the causes of childhood cancer
  • To improve chemotherapy
  • To individualise treatment
  • To develop new treatment

I'm not asking for a lot... a mere £3 would be very kind. If everyone of you sacrificed a single drink down the pub this weekend the total would far surpass my modest target.  If you can't afford that much, passing this on to all your friends would be an amazing thing to do in itself!

Thank you for taking the time to read my page.

**** UPDATE****  The company I work for has very generously offered to double the donations you make with a cap of £1000.  We should tear their arm off at this offer!  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pass this on to your friends and family and ask them kindly to donate £3.
