Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are attempting this challenge in memory of our good friend Kevin Ford, who lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer recently. We hope to raise funds for the charity to continue their vital research .

Five members of Bromley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, who have all known Kevin for many years and played regular team squash with him, are cycling from Paris back to the Orpington/Bromley area on the 5th/6th and 7th September 2014. Altogether this is about 200 miles, give or take a few "Lost in France" moments.

Trip organiser and freedom pass holder: Chris Westcott
Kevin's brother and only regular cyclist:  Brian Ford
Squash team captain, giant Mad Dog:    Mark Winkless
Baby of the team, age and size:             Gary Velvick
Training runs routemaster:                 Keith Palmer

Training consists of a few midweek runs, especially the Cudham Lane North Challenge, and a longer one, between 2 and 3 hours, on Sunday mornings, usually before the birds are up.

Sunday 10th August, the training run was a full 70 miler, from Orpington via Polhill, Otford, Wrotham, Aylesford, Lenham, Faversham, Seasalter, Whitstable, Herne Bay to Westgate ( next to the more famous Margate ). In pouring rain and a howling gale. 4 successfully completed, Mark took part "virtually" from his beach hotel in Turkey, and only 3 of the 4 riders actually crashed on the day.
