My story

My eldest brother Peter (a relatively young man of 49!) became unwell last year and was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. Within a short time he became unable to speak fluently, unable to walk and eventually unable to communicate much at all. He died in September 2010.

It's hard to believe that someone who never smoked, drank little and generally tried to look after himself should die so young. However this disease is indiscriminate, it takes the lives of innocents of all ages and unfortunately a cure is still a work in progress.

Peter was a strong distance runner in his youth. He won many events whilst at school and broke a middle distance record or two during his time. He enjoyed running along the beach at Formby.

It is fitting that money should be raised in his memory for research into finding a cure for this disease. To this end, I have accepted a place in April’s Virgin London Marathon on behalf of North West Cancer Research. I would ask you to please take a moment to sponsor me to help finance this wonderful cause.
