Stop press. As you probably know by now, I successfully completed the challenge on the 18th July in  the planned 45 days. A fantastic experience. Brilliant coastal scenery and only two days of rain. Many thanks to all of my sponsors who have now doubled my original target of £500.

The South West Coast Path is my challenge for the summer 0f 2010. Starting on the 4th June in Minehead, Somerset, I plan to reach Poole, Dorset on the 18th July. Ok. I will be taking time out to watch the occasional match in the World Cup along the way  but I will still be averaging about 14 miles each day and there's a little matter of 100,000 feet of ascent to cope with.

I retired recently and my company's chosen charity is Cancer research UK. Please give generously to this very worthwhile charity to fund its work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. A disease that affects so many of us.
