Someone very close to me, Karl Page was diagnosed at 18 months old with Leukaemia, nearly 3 years on Karl is getting ready to finish his treatment in January. The official emblem for BCCA is a gold ribbon, I have a big bucket of them to sell on behalf of the charity and if you would like to buy one and join our bid to raise awareness all over the country I would be most grateful. The Be Child Cancer Aware campaign has been set up by The Maria Watt Foundation. Maria was diagnosed with Leukaemia but sadly died 3 weeks after being diagnosed. Fortunately this is not the case for Karl after 3 long years. There are a number of families involved in the Campaign - all have children who have had Cancer and are either in remission or sadly, are no longer with us. These parents are using their unique experience to raise awareness of Cancer in Children and Teenagers in the hope that parents and teenagers in the future will gain an earlier diagnosis which will lead to better outcomes in the future.
