Gill Pasco Tour · 21 July 2012
One of my oldest & dearest friends Greg Pasco's mum, Gill Pasco was diagnosed with Myeloma, a rare & aggressive form of blood cancer in November 2010. She died seven months later at the age of 67. Myeloma UK is the only UK charity dealing solely with myeloma, providing information & support to people with myeloma and their families, promoting awareness amongst GPs & other healthcare professionals, & campaigning for & funding treatment trials. See www.myeloma.org.uk for more info on the great work of Myeloma UK.
On 21st & 22nd July 2012, I — & many of our good friends — are joining Greg on a 170 mile (250 km) bike ride: 'the Gill Pasco Tour' in memory of his Mum & in support of Myeloma UK.
The route starts at ‘Suntrap’ in Epping Forest, a temporary maternity hospital during WWII, where Gill was born. We will then pass through all the places where Gill lived — Beckton in the East End, Crayford in Southeast London, Thanet, Margate & finally Fordwich near Canterbury where she spent the last 15 years of her life. Several of Gill’s grandchildren will also ride parts of the route.
