Story

Glenwood Church are hoping to raise £20,000 to help with part of the 2nd phase of building a school in Burkina Faso, one of the poorest countries in Africa. The school, called "Wakkil Alla" ("Tust in God" in the Fulani language) will have 6 classes of 40 children each. It will be open to children of any race, sex or religion but is particularly aimed at providing a quality education in a secure Christian environment for those from vulnerable and poor families. Specifically, the £20,000 will go towards building a block of 3 classrooms to accommodate this year's new intake of pupils.

Having foolishly put my name forward one Friday after an evening of merriment, I've now woken up to the reality of riding 59 miles from Brecon to Cardiff, half of which is fairly mountainous on May 19th. Given my 3 year old bike is still shiny from living in my shed for most of its life, balanced on pancake flat tyres, this ride fills me with some apprehension. I'm less worried about the fitness side (for most of you who know me, I'm fairly fit) but more concerned about the after effects on my posterior and undercarriage.

Too late to back out now, my ego won't allow me to, so give generously, particularly if you want to have a laugh at me, walking like John Wayne and sitting on a bag of ice.
