Sponsored Walk.

I am undertaking the Bluebell Railway Track Trek, now taking place on 24th February 2013.
This is a return walk along the track of the extension from Kingscote to East Grinstead.

Now you might think that this is not a difficult walk for me! If that is the case you can put your sponsorship down for my mother (84 years young) who will also be doing the walk.

It has been a long-held ambition of the Bluebell Railway to re-connect with the national network at East Grinstead. This is now almost a reality. Imberhorne cutting was inconveniently used as a council refuse dump. The Bluebell Railway had to remove nearly 91,000 tonnes of rubbish, initially by road and then by rail, in an unprecedented project.

This is now done and the final profiling of the track bed, ready for laying track and signalling, is now being carried out. Approximately £570,000 is needed to finish this with the aim of running the first through trains in March 2013.
