One year ago, the idea of running a marathon would have been unbelievable.

However, seven stones lighter and with Mount Kilimanjaro under my (more relaxed) belt, the London Marathon seemed the perfect challenge for 2011.

In addition and to continue the bagpiping theme, I undertake to play the pipes on the Finish Line!!

As before, I'm using this as an opportunity to raise money for Bliss.

Bliss is a UK based charity focused on improving the survival and long-term quality of life for babies born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own.

This is a charity that means a great deal to Jane and I given Archie, Jamie and Emily were born on the cusp of thirty two weeks.

Whilst Archie, Jamie and Emily are now robust and healthy five year olds, we were lucky and we benefitted from some great medical support enabling them to return home after several weeks in the neonatal units at both King George’s, Ilford and St George’s, Tooting.

Unfortunately, a number of premature babies develop respiratory issues and may be born blind or deaf or damaged and Bliss provides a great deal of support to both the medical teams at the neonatal units, the families of premature babies and research into maximising survival and long term quality of life for premature babies.

Jane and I would like to thank you for your generous donation to a great cause.
