Story
As some of may know, I unfortunately lost my Granny Ruby shortly before Christmas 2011.
In June last year she was diagnosed with lung cancer, and at the age of 84 didn't wish to, or feel that she was capable, of undergoing chemotherapy. Within 6 short months she had lost her battle.
Having never had anyone close me contract cancer, in any of its forms, it was startling at how quickly the disease took hold, and shocking to witness how ruthless a disease it is.
Throughout her last months Ruby received a phenomenal level of treatment, most notably from the Eddington Hospital in North Berwick where she eventually passed away. The people and staff involved in cancer care provide an exceptional level of service, and require all the help they can get, especially now in times NHS reforms and austerity measures. To show my thanks for the support they gave one of the most remarkable women in my life I have entered the Edinburgh Half Marathon 2012.
Please be kind enough to donate and help me meet my target of £500, whether it be £1 or £20.... or more! It all counts, and the people at Macmillan Cancer Support will be the ones to benefit from your generosity.
Thanks,
Ken
