225km through France · 25 April 2013

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

PLEASE READ ALL OF MY STORY – NOT JUST THE HEADLINES!

Starting on 19th June 2013,  I am taking part in a 225km bike ride in France (which is almost the same as three back to back London to Brightons – I know, I’m crazy right?); along with 9 other work colleagues, where we’ll be cycling from Paristo Orleans via Fontainebleau(everyone knows I'm not one for endurance tasks!). This is to raise money for my chosen charity Birmingham Childrens HospItal Charities, along with 9 local hospices and Sightsavers International through sponsorship from our companies clients. Over the past few years the Cellular Solutions team (where I work ;-) ) have raised over £75,000 – so with your help this event will help take us over the £100,000 mark – with the aim of reaching £250,000 over the next four years from our cycling fundraising.

For my personal fundraising target I am looking to raise £500+ for  Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charities.

On February 19th 2012, my friends father, Pete Rippington, was killed and
more than 20 adults and children were hurt after a coach crashed while bringing the Worcestershire school party home from a skiing trip in Italy.

Pupils from Alvechurch School were among 49 people on the coach, which crashed near Chalons-en-Champagne, in northern France, claiming Peters life, and critically injuring many of the children on board.
Whilst three hospitals in France treated the injured, Birmingham Children’s Hospital has continued to treat and aid the recovery of those hurt in the tragic crash.

In honour of Pete, a dedicated and inspirational teacher, father, husband, uncle, son, nephew and friend - I have decided to raise money for something I believe he would have appreciated, and I know would mean alot to the family who have been affected by this terrible tragic loss.

Cellular Solutions will match like for like any funds we raise up to £5,000.  Our overall total fundraising target for the event is £30,000. Every donation will help towards this figure that will make a significant difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. Every penny donated goes to charity and not towards the costs of the event thanks to sponsorship of the event by one of our network partners.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now – I will be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL!
