But recently, I've started the couch to 5k programme, and if I can run 5k by the end of it, then I am ready to do this. This will be my first fun run (hopefully I'll do more than one) and I am running for Motor Neurone Disease. The reason I chose this is because it is debilitating to anyone who gets it, and is a kind of slow death with your mind stuck inside a body that doesn't work.....and that scares me more than anything. It would be the way of dying that worries me the most, knowing my mind is still in there but my body no longer works, and not knowing why it occurs is also a pretty scary thing for ANYONE.

So, I'm going to run and try to raise some money to make a difference to research or helping people with MND live as near a normal life as they can. It's not the biggest, it's not the best or most advertised, but it still does vital work. Work that could benefit anyone of us or anyone we know now or in the future.

I am running for every single person who has ever been affected by motor neurone disease, for those who have had or or have nursed family members through it. I am running to ensure research can be done into the disease, and also to help those with the disease fight for as long and as hard as they can.

UPDATE: 5/09/10 - Just over a month to go now, and I'm starting to get a tad worried about whether I'm actually going to be able to manage to do this in a good time - I'm hoping under 45 mins as it is my first one....Best get back to the running!
