Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Action for Children aim to help the UK's most vulnerable children & young people to achieve their full potential. They have four key groups who they provide help to.
The first is families who need support. These are families who are under extreme stress due to poverty, isolation & lack of self esteem. These things create a vicious circle which can have a serious effect on the children & their potential futures. For these people they provide, among many things, parenting advice, education, employment skills, debt advice & family therapy.
The second is children who cannot live with their birth families. Action for Children is a registered adoption agency & also provides fostering schemes. The fostering schemes provide an alternative to custodial sentences for young people.
The third is disabled children. Across the Uk 29% of disabled children live in poverty & the families report high levels of stress & isolation. Action for Children's disability services provide residential & respite care. They help the families deal with challenging behaviour & provide specialist education & leisure oppurtunities.
Lastly, but certainly not least, are young people who experience severe difficulties. This means they are helping young people who have mental, drug or drink problems & teenage parents. They all have low incomes & many were excluded from school. Action for Children provides emotional & practical support, education & training & help with finding accomadation.
I have a beautiful daughter & a wonderful family & I realise how lucky I am. Please help me to help the UK's children.
