Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September 2012 I will be trekking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in East Africa, then coming all the way back down again. On foot. Partly for pleasure (strange I know) but principally to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.  Safe Hands for Mothers is a charity that makes pregnancy and childbirth safer for women and babies in developing countries by training, education and lobbying. In some countries 1 in 16 women die in childbirth. In developed countries this figure is more like 1 in 5000.  Quite a difference.  So, if you're a mum, dad, aunt, uncle or any other relative, please dig deep and give families in another part of the world as much of a start in life and pleasure from their families as possible. It's not a lot to ask. Your money will go directly towards support such as buying an ambulance to take women from their often rural locations to the nearest medical centre or for training for midwives. Life saving for both mum and baby and something we take for granted.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now and wish me luck! Thank you from the bottom of my well worn trekking boots.
