Story

This climb, trekking up the highest walkable mountain in the world, is part of one of the biggest charity iniatives this year - Worth More Alive III - to save the magnificent and endangered Bengal Tiger. All the funds I raise will go to Friends of Conservation (FOC), an international charity working with local communities around the world to protect endangered species and habitats.

My colleague, award-winning photographer and passionate conservationist Paul Goldstein, who I am climbing the mighty Kilimanjaro with, is also running two marathons. He is doing it all in a tiger suit, in just one week. And he is 49! (sorry Paul)

I haven't done anything like this before, and my confidence is diminishing with each and every day at the gym, but if anyone is an inspiration, it is Paul, and it is an honour to be climbing the mountain with him. If only to save me from embarassment, please donate generously. Tigers are dying out and if you've ever seen a tiger for real, you will know why they are worth saving. If you've only ever romanticised about seeing them in the flesh, I urge you to keep the dream alive. The dream may become a reality one day, but not at this rate.

Paul Goldstein and his employers, leading adventure tour operators Exodus Travels, are champions of responsible tourism and I am so so happy to be hauling my ginger self up that mountain for them and a fantastic cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
