Story
Welcome to James Harland and Kevin Evans's Just Giving page!
Having both relocated back to our North Wales roots in recent years and taking a keener interest in cycling the local landscape we met up for a pint and a chat recently to think about cycling the length of Wales from the south coast to the northern point of Anglesea along The Lon Las Sustrans route #mce_temp_url# a total of 254 miles over 4 or 5 days. Even though we like riding bikes around all day like the kids we were, neither of us have done anything like this before, so it's going to be quite a challenge!
We thought we'd make the most of our effort by trying to raise some funds for a local charity. The Ty Gobaith respite hospice for terminally ill youngsters and their famililies based nearby in The Conwy Valley was an obvious choice for us...
Hope House was named after a child, Hope Peachey, who died aged eight months. We opened May 1995 and more than 250 terminally ill children and their families have been cared for here. Hope House was purpose built to cater for the special needs and requirements of our children who visit from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham area and Powys. Read more about ourFacilities

Our service is free of charge to all our families - no matter what their circumstances. In fact, Hope House never closes. We are here 24 hours a day, all year round, to help whenever we are needed. Demand for our service is such that we also have Ty Gobaith, our hospice in Conwy, North Wales.
Ty Gobaith, our children’s hospice in Conwy, North Wales, opened in the summer of 2004. It now provides regular periods of respite care to more than 70 terminally ill children and their families living in the North Wales area.
‘I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to come to terms with the worst possible news,’ said one mother whose son visits Ty Gobaith. ‘It gives us chance to breathe and to be an ordinary family with our other children. I don’t know what we would do without Ty Gobaith.’
The hospice is run along similar lines to its sister hospice, Hope House, but is sensitive to the needs of the local population, many of whom speak Welsh as a first language.
It's certainly in a beautiful spot and a visit to Ty Gobaith is an experience full of sensitivity, hope and natural beauty. Ty Gobaith require £4million(??is this right) per year to operate yet obtains only 15% of this from government funding, the rest comes from people like you and me. That's a lot of money.
