Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page - Keep scrolling down.

Steps provides support for families who have children and individuals with lower limb conditions. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I am doing FIVE races between July and October, totalling nearly 125km - 14km rowing, 90km cycling and 20km running.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Steps Charity Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

24 July - First race in Castle Combe complete (21km) - hot and humid race where there organisers added on an extra 0.5km at the end, not far unless you were not expecting it! I beat my target time of under one hour and came in at 56m 4s, faster than last years PB which was set on the shorter course!

14 August - Second race in Castle Combe complete (27km) - very windy race which made the bike ride interesting - only came off the track twice, head down against the wind and missed the corner! I beat my target time of 75 minutes and came in at 72m 38s.

14 September - Third race in Reading complete (13km) - short race and I peaked way too early, the run was more of a crawl, I also managed to do an extra lap on the bike by mistake - really need to concentrate. I just beat my target time of 38 minutes and came in at 37m 51s (if I take the extra lap off).

24 September - Forth race in Thruxton. No mishaps this time and all went to plan - I didn't exhaust myself too early and managed the pace all through each element. I even managed a little sprint at the end, OK a fast stroll. Anyway, my target time was 75 minutes, I finished in 75 minutes and 10 seconds, I want a recount! Still the organisers awarded me a "spot prize" for taking part in all the Rowathlons this year and for the fundraising efforts.

1 October - Last race in Marlow (37km) - target time of 1h 54m. The row went very well (just over 15 minutes) and I managed to overtake a few people going up the hills on the bikes before the front gearing broke off and jammed in the rear wheel. It was terminal for the bike! I then pushed and carried the bike back the way I had come, wearing clip on bike shoes, to the transition zone, in monsoon weather conditions and then completed the run. For a short time I was first in the rankings with a time 20 minutes better than my personal best, however, I had to let the organisers know that as I had not been able to complete the bike phase I did not have a valid time. I was really disappointed. To make up for the uncovered miles I will run the Chilly Duathlon in November (6.5 km run and a 16 km cycle). Will keep you posted.
