We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

On 11 May 2012 we intend to set out from Le Puy in France and travel by bike, as closely as possible, along the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This 1100 mile trip will take us through several mountain ranges, two countries and a host of towns and villages linked to the pilgrimage, which dates back to medieval times. Linda has a reputation for falling off bikes in spectacular fashion and both of us will be 60! We expect to encounter angry Spanish dogs, snow through the Pyrenees, hot, hot weather along the Meseta and the possibility of not finding a bed for the night. Above all we hope to return with memories of the people we encounter along the Way, as the millions before us have done. It will certainly be an adventure. What more can you ask for in retirement?

We have in the past two years lost two very dear friends, Rita and Cass, to Motor Neurone Disease, so we are dedicating our ride to their memory, and at the same time, raising money for much needed research funding and patient support. We hope you will be able to support our campaign to raise £5 000 (or even more!) for MND Association.

We saw at first hand how the Association supported both Cass and Rita as their illness progressed. This devastating illness makes enormous demands on both the patients and their carers. We need to support them, as well as help fund the research which is so badly needed to find a cure.

We will be setting out from Le Puy on what would have been Cass' 60th Birthday.
