Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

MITYANA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

School Education Programme - Fire Safety for primary schools

In June 2011 I have the opportunity travel to Africa as a volunteer to deliver fire safety education in primary and secondary schools. I will be based in the Ugandan township of Mityana.

The education I will help to deliver as part of a team will raise awareness of the risk of fire to both pupils and the school staff. Many of these schools are overcrowded by UK standards and many pupils board there overnight, in the past outbreaks of fires have resulted in fatalities and this is what we aim to prevent in future.

We educate the pupils in the dangers of fire, what to do in the event of fire and how as a school they will respond to fire situations. This is in the hope of making the schools as organisations more safe for staff and pupils and by empowering the pupils to be ambassadors for fire safety in the community and at home.

I aim to raise money for the charity to aid volunteers in delivering this worthwhile project that can change the lives of many young people.

Prior to departure I am completing the Coast and Castles bike ride from Edinburgh to Tynemouth (Approx 180 miles) over a 3 day period. Please donate what you can to encourage me to complete this gruelling challenge, any amount pledged will be appreciated and help greatly.

I will update facebook with photos from the cycle challenge and the work I will be doing in Africa.

Thankyou again for your support

Kev Crutwell
