Hi,

I'm taking part in 'Hellrider' - an eight hour duathon of off-road running and mountain biking to raise money for Thrive, a team who work with vulnerable young people on an Oxford housing estate.

As you can imagine, to do something like this, I'd have to be impressed by their work. And I am. So, please give generously so these guys can see more young lives turned around.

Rachel is one of the young people Thrive has been working with. When the team met her she was desperate. She was a young mum struggling to bring up her daughter and cope with relationships. She was living in a cold, mouldy flat that was miles from her daughter's school. When she was really hard up she would resort to crime to get money for food.

Thrive has helped Rachel turn her life around. The team took her housing case to her local MP, accompanied her to doctor's appointments and helped her access psychiatric care. They spent hours listening to her.

She has now been moved to a flat that is hygienic and safe for her daughter. It's near to the school so she isn't wasting her meagre income on bus fares every day. She has better relationships with her family and feels part of the community again. Above all, she now feels that life is worth living.

And to top it all - she's started a new job. She's been out of work for years so this is an amazing turnaround! Her life has been transformed.

So, it's for young people like Rachel that I'm running and biking for 8 hours. Please give so that more young people can get the help they need.

Thanks,

Kev
