The Grand Union Canal Challenge 2014 · 28 June 2014 to 29 June 2014 ·

We’re an anti-poverty charity & community of food banks, working together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank, while providing practical support for people left without enough money. (Please note we're unable to forward funds onto individual food banks, funds raised here go to Trussell)

Story

26-28 June,  is  for some a weekend of rock and roll at Glastonbury.  For others, a weekend for a very long walk, a  100KM to be exact.

24 Poplar HARCA employees have decided to walk the Grand Union Challenge.  That’s 100KM’s over two days following the canal path out of London onto the  Chilterns.

Why are we doing it? To raise money for Trussell Trust an amazing, award winning charity running a network of brilliant food banks across the UK.

We’d like to think that you wouldn’t need food banks in the UK in 2014.   But sadly, food banks are becoming an essential stop gap for those in need.

Last year Trussell Trust helped 346,992 people, 126,889 were children.

It doesn’t make sense to us that people are going hungry here  in the UK in 2014. So,  that’s why we are putting on our walking boots, rather than pitching up our festival tents.  If you’re able to support our fund raising walking adventure, your money will go to great place.

Alternatively you can make a contribution with food and clothes, Visit their website to find out more:  http:www.trusselltrust.org

Thanks in advance from a group of rather apprehensive but determined group of walkers.
