My story

Welcome to Kevin's fundraising page - scroll down for Kevin's story.
J&J Ironman!
On September 16 2012 James and Jonty will attempt the Ironman course in Tenby. The Ironman consists of a:
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike
26.2 mile run
This all has to be done in under 17 hours!
James & Jonty have been doing short triathlons for the past 4 years and coming from a background of laying on the sofa and weightlifting neither are specifically designed for doing endurance work; "we take part in triathlons but we are not triathletes"!
They aim to complete the race and by doing so raise money
for Kevin.
Funds raised will go towards the purchase of;
Specialist seating for an adapted vehicle to enable him to sit in the front (rather than be stuck in the back in his wheelchair). This will compliment what we receive from Motability to provide a vehicle that is safe and comfortable, and hopefully one that Kevin can drive.
An outdoor verticle ramp to provide independent and safe access to our garden from the back patio.
Kevin's story
We are raising funds for Aspire (a spinal injuries charity) to ensure Kevin has all the equipment he needs to lead an independant, healthy and fulfilling life.
In September 2009, Kevin had a kitesurfing accident and has been left paralysed from the chest down. For everyone that knows Kevin, you will know this is the worst thing that could have happened - Kevin has always adored being active, spending time kayaking, mountain biking, road cycling, kiteboarding, weight training and basically anything outdoors. All of which he enjoyed the most when alongside his wife, Becky. It wasn't just the activities Kevin loved, but being at one with nature and challenging his mind and body so much that he was exhausted by the end of it - but for all the right reasons!
All funds raised will kindly be managed by Aspire, so you can rest assured it is all above board.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Aspire and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Aspire will then purchase the items on our behalf, we will not have access to your cash. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for Aspire.
