My Story:

My dad was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) skin cancer in 2015. He suffered from a large lump in his arm that on the surface looked like and ulcer/sore but was removed by surgery. He then had it reoccur in his face; one on his forehead and another time around his nose and upper lip which was again removed by surgery and involved a skin graft from his back. It is likely the cancer will reoccur but he goes for regular checkups.

My Nan (Dad's Mum) was diagnosed in 2016 with 3 types of terminal cancer; Ovarian Cancer, Bowel Cancer and Omentum Cancer of the Stomach. Since then she has been through 6 lots of chemotherapy. Hopefully on the 29th of May 2017  she will undergo a surgery to remove the cancer. However, this operation is a 50/50 chance of survival so she is currently trying very hard to become stable enough for the operation. Although the cancer is terminal, the operation will give her more time to spend time with our family and a better quality of life. 

I am very proud of both of them and our family who are supporting them both in this difficult time. 

This is my second time running Race For Life (first in 2010) but my first time running the Pretty Muddy Course. I am currently taking my GCSE exams but won't let this stop me taking part and I am looking forward to getting stuck in and crossing that finish line!
