Palace to Palace 2018 · 7 October 2018 ·

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m participating in the Palace to Palace ride in memory of my Father,
who passed away in March this year after an18 month battle with Mesothelioma. Dave was a keen cyclist throughout his life which stemmed from his early days as a competitive club cyclist. My intention was to ride one of his bikes (pictured) above, it’s a 1960 A.S. Gillott and was a pretty good bike in its day. Plans to restore the bike to its original condition have stalled due to work commitments so I’ll be riding something a lot more up to date, and lighter!

The Palace to Palace ride raises funds for the Princes Trust, a
charity set up by the Prince Wales to provide opportunities to young individuals, who have not had some of the privileges in life, most of us often take for granted. The Princes Trust was a charity close to my Dad’s heart and he participated in several events over the years contributed to their fundraising.

Dave spent the last 20 years of his career working as a Trades instructor in a Young Offenders Institute where he dedicated his time and knowledge to taking hundreds of teenagers through Painting and Decorating apprenticeships. There were many success stories and he took pride in the knowledge that he had made significant and positive impacts in giving young, often misguided youths a chance to make something of their lives.

All contributions, no matter how small will be very much appreciated.
