Thank you to our supporters!
Through your generosity and kindness, we are on course to provide clean water to 5 villages in Zambia!
Enjoy the photos that we've posted.
Thank you!
Laura, Nermin, Valerie, Christine, Nathalie and Salome

We are back from our climb!!
Thank you to all our supporters out there!  Herewith a quick update:
Nathalie, Christine and Laura successfully reached the Uhuru Peak summit, with Valerie following very closely and reaching Stella Point! Well done ladies!!!
Salome aborted her summit attempt after an exhausting 3 hours. Nermin challenged her fear of heights and achieved her kilimanjaro by reaching the highest camp with the rest of the group.

Kili Gals
Climbing Kilimanjaro for Village Water

In February 2012, a team of ladies associated with Cargill’s Middle East and Africa grain and oilseeds business will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to raise vital funds for Village Water.

Why are we supporting Village Water?
Women are the main water bearers in Africa and spend the majority of their time and energy collecting water. Many of the local sources of water are unsafe and contribute to poor sanitation. Diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases are common and life-threatening.
Village Water works to bring clean drinking water to villages in Western Zambia. For each $7,000 (£4,500) raised -– $50 per village member -  one drinking well can be installed by Village Water, who will also provide a full community sanitation and hygiene mobilisation programme and train village pump operators, so they know how to carry out basic maintenance to give the pump a long and useful life.

With your help, our intrepid Kili Gals can help bring safe drinking water to villages in Zambia and give village women the opportunity to focus on local enterprise opportunities as well as allow the time for children to attend school. The provision of local water supplies can transform an entire village!
The Kili Gals are fully responsible to pay their own expedition costs - your donation will go directly to Village Water.
So please dig deep and donate now!

This is what our Kili Gals have to say:
Laura Huston— Minneapolis, USA
I thank my co-workers from Africa for inviting me to this challenge!
Having worked with many of the African Business Units for the past three years, I have seen some of the need. This is, indeed, a worthy cause!
Christine von Kaenel—Cairo, Egypt
I fell in love with the Moroccan Atlas mountains when I was living in Casablanca, I feel moved with the so dry and colorful Sinai and now I am thrilled and so lucky to discover East Africa and his famous Kilimanjaro. I am training to make this adventure a success but it wouldn't be one without this very helpful project of Village Water to support the amazing women and the village development in Zambia.
Valerie Gaston-Carrere — Cairo. Egypt
Africa is a unique experience. After many years in Cote d’Ivoire and Morocco and now living in Cairo, I am glad to be part of the this group of “crazy” ladies, ready to climb Kilimanjaro. Personal challenge and contribution to others are my main drivers for the expedition. Stay tuned and show your support!
Nermin Louis —Cairo, Egypt
Yes, living in Africa almost all my life, but how little do the people in the north know about the southern parts of Africa. Travelling to & Climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, is not just an unforgettable experience or adventure or challenge, but also great efforts from great ladies of different backgrounds, who have worked hard and devoted themselves to help in whatever small way, those less fortunate women in our beautiful continent.
Salome Byleveldt—Johannesburg, South Africa
I’ve been wanting to climb Kilimanjaro for many years. Now is my time to take up the challenge!
I was blessed to be born and bred in Africa and being able to use this African expedition to help improve the lives of less fortunate women on my continent is very special to me.
Nathalie Schuurman —Johannesburg, South Africa
Living in different parts of Africa during the past 10 years has given me a life full of memories and experiences. Having the opportunity now to give something back to the people of this great continent through helping villages with sanitation and clean water, while facing one of the greatest personal challenges of my life in conquering the highest peak of Africa, fills me with great satisfaction.
