Hello all!
I can hardly believe it myself, but apparently very soon, I shall be embarking on a quest to conquer Kilimanjaro...as you do. It is a challenge that has become a bit of an obsession for me this year, owing largely to the charity I am supporting. The charity I have chosen to support, is Headway. This is a remarkable organisation, whose aim is to provide support to those who have suffered a brain damage from a head injury. It also seeks to support those left to care for those who have been injured, which is often a life long task. The charity offers it's help in a wide variety of ways, from offering a place for people to gather and share their experiences and advice, to offering information on how to find the best medical treatment, and also lobbying for more funding to be provided for local communities to support those affected. It offers a sense of belonging to those injured who may no longer feel part of the society they were once part of, and, fundamentally, it offers families hope when they are struggling through some very dark days.
Head injury can happen all too easily, you don't have to be doing anything extraordinary for it to happen. Falling off a bike. Being involved in a car crash. Crossing a road. Just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could happen to you. It could happen to me. It happened to my big brother.
If you could spare any pennies for this really worthwhile cause, it would be really appreciated. Just think of your donation as the Christmas drinks you won't have to buy me this year......it should save you a few quid shouldn't it?!
