Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

Hi Donors,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.

On 11th September 2017 I am starting a trek to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with a bunch of 55 to 61 year old family members and friends.

Climbing Kilimanjaro has long been a big ticket item on my
Bucket List and when this opportunity arose I jumped at the chance to finally fulfil this ambition. Whilst I am doing this I would also like to give myself an additional challenge of raising a decent amount of money for couple of charities close to our hearts and which we have supported for many years.

The first is the national charity Anthony Nolan which does wonderful work in saving the lives of people with blood cancer.  This charity is particularly close to our family's heart as my wife lost a brother, I have lost a sister, we have lost a neighbour and our daughter has lost a friend all through Leukaemia. In each case Anthony Nolan was involved closely in their battle against this disease in trying and in finding suitable bone marrow donor. On a side note to this, I would urge you to sign up to their donation register at the following link if you have not done already: https://www.anthonynolan.org/8-ways-you-could-save-life/donate-your-stem-cells It is as simple as spitting in a pot and maybe saving someone's life.

The second charity I would like to raise funds for is the Dove House Hospice, a charity local to us in the East Riding of Yorkshire. They do wonderful work in providing best possible care to people with illness for
which there is no cure. As they say on their website "We add life to days when days can't be added to life". For the past 25 years the Dove House has provided physical, social, psychological and spiritual support to patients suffering from a wide range of diseases such as cancer, neurological illnesses, heart diseases, respiratory diseases, HIV/AIDS and many other illnesses. They truly provide an outstanding service within our community and I would like to support them for the future.

I have set an ambitious goal of raising a total of £2000 for these charities and I would be grateful for any sponsorship donation no matter
how big or how small. All of the money you donate will go straight to the
charities and your support to them will keep me plodding on up Kilimanjaro!

You can either share your donation between both charities or simply give it all to the one charity that you relate to more, however, I would
like to keep the funds equal if possible.

Please feel free to forward the link to this page to any of your family and friends who you feel may also be interested in donating as well. https://www.justgiving.com/teams/amistry-kilimanjaro

Thank you very much!

Arvind

P.S. Don't forget to tick the gift aid box if your donation
is eligible and have HMRC top up your donation by 25%!

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. They won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
