Story
Towering over the sandy plains of Tanzania, stands Mount Kilimanjaro – the world's tallest free-standing mountain.
Four of our brave nurses from our A&E department have committed themselves to the challenge of a lifetime in order to raise money for The Magic Wand Appeal. Over a duration of 9 days starting on 1st December this year they will be trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro, all 5,895m!!
To rally our nurses undertaking this extreme challenge we are asking for your help by sponsoring them.
The Winchester Magic Wand Appeal - putting a sparkle into our children's unit
Building on the success of our Children’s Assessment Unit (Sophie’s Place) we are raising funds to enable us to redesign our children’s unit. This will provide a modern, up-to-date facility for all children and young people in our area.
This is a charitable appeal to raise £1.5 million to redesign and refurbish our children’s unit in the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester.
What will the new design involve?
The existing facilities will be radically changed and improved.
Key features of our new design involve:
An environment suitable for all from babies to adolescents
Single rooms with en suite facilities and parent beds.
A larger day assessment area
A separate Day Unit for surgical cases
A new centralised reception
More consulting rooms
