We work in the world's toughest places to ensure children are in education.

Story

Last year, Sierra Leone's hosted their secound ever marathon to raise money Street Child of Sierra Leone. This year, the organisers are going to build on their incredible success of the past two years to and try to raise even more for the great work they they do.

Kiln was proud to be the principal sponsor of the first marathon in 2012. On 25th May 2014, six of us Kiln staff members are returning to Makeni to raise money and awareness for a fantastic cause.

Street Child helps some of the world's most impoverished children off the streets and into education.  It provides medical care and counselling, and it reunites children with their families.  It focuses on economic sustainability, strategises to reach those who are most vulnerable, and is able to boast remarkable efficiency.  Since 90% of its donations are spent inside Sierra Leone on projects, and since it costs only £40 to send a child to school for a whole year and £1,000 to build a school, Street Child is able to make an overwhelming impact on thousands of lives.

We (Laila, Daniel, Kieron Martin Michael and Simon) are very excited to be fundraising for such a wonderful charity and thank you for your support.  It will be amazing to experience the renowned Salone hospitality and beautiful country; it's a shame about all the tedious training ahead and the unbearable heat!
