Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for the charity Vimba. Vimba is a small charity established in 2007 by a group of friends who were united in their common desire to do something about the suffering occuring across Zimbabwe. The name ' Vimba ' translates to mean ‘hope’ in the native language Shona. Vimba does not have a political agenda and is purely focused on raising funds to assist a number of designated projects throughout Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Zimbabwe is now one of the greatest humanitarian crises in Africa. This country has the highest child mortality rate in the world, the unemployment rate is 80% and rising, while the average life expectancy is thirty seven years old. Severe droughts, human rights violations and lack of foreign investment and support have contributed to this escalating situation. One hundred babies are born HIV-positive every day in Zimbabwe. One in five Zimbabwean children is now an orphan and the numbers continue to grow. As a result, Vimba’s passion and ultimate aim is to make a noticable difference in the lives of those dying from the deprivation of basic human necessities.

By participating in Ironman Western Australia i hope to bring more attention to what has become a dire situation in Zimbabwe, and in the process raise money for a project close to my heart. Next year, Vimba aims to donate money towards building an orphanage to house some of the thousands of orphans in Zimbabwe. With your help, we can make a difference! Just $1 of your hard earned would go a long way in Zimbabwe, so imagine what $1000 and up could achieve! This is an opportunity to make a noticeable difference to many children who are far worse off than most of us, so please donate.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

This money represents all the funds raised offfline. Thanks Everyone! 06/12/11
