GRIM Challenge · 2 December 2017

The UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, we've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you all know, this year I have embarked on a  personal journey to lose weight and improve my health and fitness. I have been training hard and earlier this year completed my first 5k run.  But this is not enough……I am now training towards my next milestone and I have decided to take part in the GRIM Challenge – the UK’s biggest off-road challenge.

On Saturday 2nd December, I will be running, crawling and most likely crying, across an 8 mile course on the Army’s vehicle testing tracks consisting of hills, mud, a lot of water, moguls, a sand dune, logs, railway tracks, cammo nets and a bog.  It’s not going to be easy but I am going to do it!

But I am not just taking on this challenge for myself, I am also hoping to raise much needed funds for a very worthwhile charity – Combat Stress.  Combat Stress is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity. They treat a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.  Mental
health issues can affect ex-servicemen and women of all ages. Right now, they
have more than 6,000 veterans registered with them for support and the charity
provides a vital lifeline for these veterans, and their families too.
