KIMON'S PIZZA CHALLENGE
Just short of a year ago on 24 June I was diagnosed with a kidney cancer and many will know my story. A "routine" ultrasound scan came up with rather a surprise and five days later I had my operation.
I would like to thank the family and friends that have been so supportive.
I would also like to thank Drs Christopher Winearls, David Cranston, Oliver Dyar, Andrew Protheroe and Val Macaulay and their teams at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford for the wonderful and prompt care that I have been afforded there.
Thanks to their efforts, after a radical right nephrectomy on 29 June 2010, I was able to take a long recuperative holiday in Greece last summer and get back to work quickly thereafter. I am well and hoping for the best.
To give thanks and make it count, I am hosting at least one but probably a series of pizza parties at my house this summer to celebrate survival and friendships.
The first party is on SATURDAY 25 JUNE 2011 from 6pm (or 4pm if you can't make it later) and my friends and I aim to make 50 - 100 pizzas (depending on demand) in the wood-fired oven before the night is out. I intend to make this annual as long as I am still around.
The pizzas are cooked in the Neapolitan style with fresh homemade dough and toppings at 500C in 70-90 seconds. Pineapple toppings are not allowed:-).

I want you please to help me vastly exceed the rather conservative target that Mary and the girls thought was appropriate. I bet we can.
