We have now completed this fantastic challenge - thank you so much for all your incredibly generous donations, you'll see that we have smashed our original target which is fantastic!
Please take a look at the video on this page to give you a little taster of our experience, it was truly awesome, between the whole group the Sue Ryder Charity will be £70,000 better off!
Simon and I are doing this almighty challenge in memory of our Dad. He had been living with cancer for many years, and he fought long, hard and bravely not to let it beat him. He continued to enjoy doing his favourite activities all the way to the end. Our Dad has been an inspiration to us, making us see that every day and every challenge has to be faced with happiness and to make the most of everything!
Dad died in April, having been so amazingly taken care of by the team at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice for his final month with us.
To thank these wonderful people at Thorpe Hall for their incredible care, and to help those in the future who have to face this kind of battle, we're off across the Sahara between the 7th and 16th of October 2011!
The challenge laid down is a trek of 100km across the desert, to be completed within 5 days, we'll camp out overnight and have a couple of camels to talk to along the way. Every step of the way we'll be remembering Dad, and we'll know that every pound we raise will be going to help others receive outstanding care at Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Please help us help others - we cannot thank you enough for your support and we promise to face the Sahara in the same way Dad faced life, full on.
Thank you,
Nige and Simon
