We focus on the needs of vulnerable Ethiopians at grass roots level. Our partners know the context and solutions; we listen and provide appropriate support. Partnerships will continue as long as there’s a clear need and opportunities to make a lasting impact.

Story

Updated on Oct 18th 2010 at 3:44 PM from the JustGiving API Firewalk booked- aaaargh!

Hello!

On 20th November I will be travelling to Ethiopia with a 28 strong team for Ethiopiaid to work on a variety of community projects including Facing Africa - helping children with the Noma virus and The House of Angels Missionary Charity - details of all of the good work these projects do can be found on the charity's site, www.ethiopiaid.org.uk.

We have been set a fundraising target of £2000 and on the 29th October, Julie-Ann and I will be holding a Halloween charity fund-raiser at Tusk Club, Glasgow. The night will kick off with a Race Night and Raffle, break for a buffet and finish off with a DJ and Karaoke booth. If you will be around Glasgow and fancy a fun-filled Halloween please just email us for tickets!

In order to raise some additional funds, I will be kicking off my heels and walking across hot coals in a Charity Firewalk on Saturday 30th October. (argh!) My dad has also very kindly offered to walk over the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the same day to make it a Donaldson Fire/Water experience! If anyone would like to sponsor us all donations would be gladly appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please remember to add GiftAid if eligable - it will enhance donation by approx 28% which is really adds up!

So please dig deep and donate now if you can to help make a difference with Ethiopiaid.

What can your money do?

£10 will cover one month emergency nutrition feeding for a malnourished child.

£30 will feed a family of 5 for a month

£50 can buy adequate medical supplies for the hospital to perform an operation

£90 will buy 6 goats for a poor family to provide milk and meat for their children and sell the surplus for extra income.

About Ethiopiad -

Ethiopiaid focuses on one country

Ethiopia. By fundraising solely for causes in this country, we are able to concentrate our funds in one area and use our donors' money effectively. Indeed, most of our 20 partners are located in the country's capital, Addis Ababa, and surrounding areas. This allows an integrated approach to help make a difference for the whole community.

Ethiopiaid breaks the "colonial" mould

Rather than sending ex-pats to Ethiopia, we raise funds for local, Ethiopian-run charities. These organisations can make a great difference for very little money and are the means by which long-term sustainable change can be achieved.

Ethiopiaid encourages self-sufficiency

We give Ethiopians, who already hold the answers to issues being faced in Ethiopia today, the extra help they need to solve these problems for themselves. We don't want a quick fix. We want lasting change.
