Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of June this summer we will be taking on the challenge of reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Beating Eating Disorders UK which is a fantastic cause. This will be a self funded trip and all potential money raised will go to BEAT.

BEAT is the UK's only nationwide organisation supporting people affected by eating disorders, their family members and friends, and campaigning on their behalf. Please take some time to watch MSP Dennis Robertson's debate on raising awareness of eating disorders in the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-17125606

Beat’s aims are:

- To change the way everyone thinks and talks about eating disorders

- To improve the way services and treatment are provided

- And to help anyone believe that their eating disorder can be beaten

The charity does this by:

- Challenging the stereotypes and stigma that people with eating disorders face

- Campaigning for better services and treatment

- Providing information, support and encouragement to seek treatment and recovery

ANY donations would be greatly appreciated and will make such a difference in the problem of beating eating disorders in the UK.

£2 enables BEAT to provide online support to a young person struggling with an eating disorder

£5 enables BEAT to answer a question on the helpline message boards

£10 enables BEAT to give a sufferer the opportunity to talk to a support worker

£25 enables BEAT to answer five questions in our online Youth Chat Room

£100 enables BEAT to train a Young Ambassador to talk about and raise awareness of eating disorders in the national media

£250 enables BEAT to train a helpline worker

£500 enables BEAT to set up a regional training event to train volunteers to set up and run a support group in their local area.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
