Project Harar provides access to treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration services in Ethiopia for children and young people with clefts and more complex facial disfigurements. We do this because these children and young people are at risk of stunting, malnutrition, and social exclusion.

Story

Project Harar is a charity which helps children in rural Ethiopia who have severe facial disabilities to access medical care.  The disabilities might be caused by animal attacks, tumours, cleft lip/palate or by noma which is a disease caused by malnutrition.  The disabilities give rise to problems with eating, speaking and smiling - all such important functions which we take for granted.  The charity's two Ethiopian staff find suitable cases and help them get to Addis Ababa for treatment.

The difficult cases are treated by a team of doctors from Europe.  The surgeon who has operated on me twice and provided enormous physical and emotional support to me over the last couple of years is one of the team and I would like to repay a tiny bit of the debt I owe him by raising as much money as I can for the charity for which he gives up his holidays.

Thank you for your support.
