Kirsty's Volunteering Trip to India

Raleigh ICS · 31 December 2020 ·
Hi everyone,
Next summer I will be going to India for 10 weeks, working with Raleigh International on the International Citizen Service scheme.
I am aiming to raise £800.
PLEASE NOTE: I would like to make it clear that the money you donate will NOT go towards my accommodation or flights or anything like that. The money will be going DIRECTLY to Raleigh International and all of the fantastic work they do in under-developed countries all around the world.
International Citizen Service is an opportunity for volunteers to help some of the poorest people in the world and learn some valuable skills at the same time. Funded by the Department for International Development and run by some of the most respected names in international volunteering, it will be the UK's foremost global volunteering programme for young people.
As a Raleigh ICS volunteer, I will be living and working in a rural Indian community on a project designed to bring about lasting change. I will be helping to tackle issues around education, health, livelihoods, strengthening civil society and the environment in Southern India.
The types of projects that I will be involved with include:
- Building eco-sanitation toilets
- Working with farmers on sustainable farming techniques
- Installing bio-gas units to provide renewable fuel
- Organising health camps in small rural communities
