Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I am raising money for this charity because my Dad was paralysed in 1988 as a result of hospital negligence following a motorbike accident 5 years earlier. 28 years on, he now has terminal bladder cancer as a result of having a perminant catheter for all that time. The early signs were discarded by his doctor as "being normal for him". I hope that by raising money for this charity, we can stop things like this happening to other families.

I have also had a microdiscectomy at L5/S1
