Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 11th/12th June 2011 I will be undertaking the 3 peaks challenge, and I aim to raise at least £200 for Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team. The challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours - Ben Nevis (Scotland,1344m, 4406ft), Scafell Pike (England, 978m, 3209ft), and Snowdon (Wales, 1085m, 3560ft).
The charity my friends and I are raising money for is the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue team which consists of about 50 volunteers, all on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All the volunteers have full time jobs and meet almost all their own expenses. The Team typically responds to between 40 and 50 requests for help every year. Donations are required to buy the vital equipment needed to assist in the search and rescue of individuals, and large scale environmental disasters. This charity relies entirely on public donations for its survival and has become an integral part of the safety for local communities in county Durham. Any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and greatly aid the team in their efforts to provide the best service possible.
