Story
Undeterred by the cycling sunburn, the chaffing, the fear of the downhills, the booze ban leading up to said event and most of all the relentless loops of Richmond Park I'm compelled to do to get 'fit', Etape 2012 here we come. This year our group is going for Act II.
Acte II, on Saturday 14th July, heads down into the Pyrenees. This looks set to be a ride of epic proportions, covering 197km of true Pyreneen legends. It will start with the Cols d’Aubisque and Soulor, before tackling the mighty Col du Tourmalet in the middle, followed by (as if that were not enough) the Aspin AND the Peyresourde, before dropping to Bagnères de Luchon. Total climbing is around 5200m, which combined with the distance of nearly 200km, makes this cyclosportive one of the biggest and toughest ever devised.
I'm raising money for Cancer Research UK the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. They are fighting cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it to save more lives. They are entirely funded by the public. With your help, Cancer Research UK can ensure more people beat cancer.
Please support me and my fellow etappers by digging deep, cheering us on and praying we don’t get swept up by the broom wagon or fall victim to a mechanical.
