My story

Our beautiful daughter Daisy Summer Shipley was born 3.47am Thursday 4th March 2010 weighing a surprising 7lb 1oz .

Unfortunately Daisy became an angel just 26.5 hours later due to a very rare condition ARPKD (polycystic kidney disease) which we did not know she had whilst pregnant.  As you can imagine this has been a huge shock for Marc & I and we are trully devestated that our first daughter is not with us now.

Tiny Lives is a charity which has been set up to support the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI.  We will be eternally grateful for the RVI for all the care they gave to Daisy and to us throughout this terrible time, the care and treatment Daisy received was amazing and the support the we received from the staff was wonderful and we can't thank them enough.

One thing that is helping us through our grief of loosing our precious baby daughter is the fact that we can help the unit by raising money through Tiny Lives.  The RVI is a very specialist unit and we know Daisy had the best possible care available in the North East, treatment that she possibly wouldn't have been able to receive at any other of the hospitals.

Everyone is touched by a baby in their lives wether it be their own or a friend or family members and I'm sure that everyone will agree that there is nothing more important than giving sick babies the best chance possible to get better.

Without wanting to scare people or sound very morbid Unfortunately it takes a tradgedy to happen to someone to make you realise that these things DON'T JUST HAPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE they can also happen to you!  No one expects to go into hospital to give birth to your baby and come out empty handed but as we have learned it is a very very sad fact that this does happen quite a lot and doesn't just happen to "other people"  which is why we are dedicating all we can into raising funds to help the unit because they do such a fantastic job and you just do not know when you may need them yourself.

Everything we do in life from now on will be done in honour of our beautiful Daisy and to make her proud of her mummy and daddy who love her very very much and we intend to keep her memory alive through lots of fund raising events and ideas.  We will keep you posted with anything we do to raise money, we have a lot of ideas up our sleeves and we hope that you will all support us to help the premature and sick babies.

You can also make donations directly through this page and it will be donated directly to Tiny Lives, or alternatively you can give donations personaly to us which we will pay in on your behalf.  All donations are greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small.

We are planning do do a car boot sale and donating the takings to the charity so if anyone is having a clear out please feel free to contact us and donate any items you no longer want for us to sell, again no matter how big or small because even if we can just make 50p for an item, its far better making 50p than an item being thrown away and remember one mans junk is another mans treasure lol.  Clothes, Bags and Shoes are allways a great hit as well as unopened gift sets that maybe you received for xmas or birthday and have never used, people usually ask for those.  Basically anything will help!  My Mobile number is 07515 414061
